OCR: Select message area Online help Use cursor keys to move cursor on the screen. With PgUp and PgDn commands you can move between different screens. When you have found the message area that you want, press Enter to select it. After selection, you will be prompted for any new personal mail, if mail check is used, and returned to the system, unless area can be opened. You can also search for a given message area with Find command. Then you will be prompted for (partial) area name or group. The cursor will be moved to the next area that fits in the search string. Should you know the number of the message area, you can jump to it simply by entering it in the selection screen. Brief : Up Move one area upwards Space - Search for area Down Move one area downwards 1-9 Jump to area PgUp Move to previous screen ? Show online help PgDn Move to next screen C Combined area Home Move to start of list Mail check area End Move to end of list T Set areas In command line mode, you can restrict the range of the areas from which the selection will be done by entering one of the following parameters : NONE Fast area select, no area list will be displayed. /COMB Include only combined areas in the list. (Default) /ALL /GROUP =< group> Include all areas in the list. /NAME =< string> Include areas belonging to given group in the list. /RANGE =< range> Include areas whose name contain given string in the list. NEWMSGS Include areas in given numerical range in the list. Include areas containing new messages in the list. /MSGS Kareatype> Include areas containing messages in the list. Include ECHO / LOCAL / NET areas in the list. Only the narrowest range of the areas will be included in the area list. Eg. specifying parameters /COMB /ECHO /NEWMSGS will include only those echo mail areas which belong to your combined areas and have new messages in the list. All parameters can be shortened, so /C/E/NEW will do the same as above. Setting combined and mail check areas and last read pointers You can select which areas are searched for new mail and which areas you want to follow, instead of reading all messages in all areas. This way you can concentrate on subjects you really want to read. You can also set your last read pointers, in case you want to reread some old messages or reset pointers. All this you can do with Set areas command. The following commands are used to select which areas are operated : command description example <num> Single area 123 <num> . . < num> ] Areas within range 123 .. 234 <str> Area/group named <str> CONCORD *< str> Areas/groups with <str> anywhere in name *FIDO <str>* COMP .LANG* LOCAL Areas/groups, names starting with <str> Local areas ECHO Echo mail areas NET Net mail areas ALI All areas Multiple area selection commands are allowed at the same time. If none of these commands is given, currently active combined areas will be operated instead. The following commands are used to do the action : command description example ON Turn combined/mail check area flag on OFF Turn combined/mail check area flag off COMB Set combined area (normal) flag only PKT Set combined area (msg pkts) flag only MAIL Set mail check flag only CLEAR Set pointers, all messages unread MAX Set pointers, no messages unread ONLY : < num> Set pointers, last <num> messages unread ONLY:50 Only one of these actions is allowed at the same time, ie. you cannot select combined and mail check areas at the same time you are setting last read pointers. By default, if none of these actions is given, both combined and mail check areas within wanted range are toggled (ie. turned on if they are off and vice versa). Examples : 3 5 8-12 16-24 ON Turn on areas 3, 5, 8-12 and 16-24 (both combined and mail check area flag). F D V *PROG OFF Turn off areas which belong to groups F, D and V or whose MAX name contains string PROG. Reset last read pointers in all combined areas (ie. no messages unread ) LOCAL CONCORD ONLY:50 Set last 50 messages unread in all local areas and Concord support echo. Pre Enter to continue . 3
